Who’s Who- DeMaurice Fitzgerald Smith

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!? I am.  The 2014 preseason begins on Sunday August 3rd and while the top National Football League (NFL) news has been the punishment of  Ray Rice stemming from domestic abuse, many are looking forward to seeing what the new recruits can do.  Will Manziel start? Are you team Geno Smith or Michael Vick? Does Eli have another year in him?

In honor of the return of football we take a look at the Executive Director of the National Football League Players’ Association.  Who is DeMaurice Fitzgerald Smith?

DeMaurice Fitzgerald Smith is the Executive Director of the National Football League Players’ Association (NFLPA). He was elected unanimously by a board of active player representatives on March 16, 2009 and re-elected unanimously to a second term on March 29, 2012. ESPN opined that Smith had assumed the toughest job in sports by succeeding the late Gene Upshaw and heading into the most contentious and public labor/management battle in sports history.  Click for more information about DeMaurice Fitzgerald Smith.
